 Job Description

SmartStop Asset Management is looking for an experienced and effective Training Director to manage the training program for all store managers, associates, and district managers that work at our various storage facilities across the United States and in Ontario, Canada.  The Training Director will direct our team of district trainers (1 per district) to facilitate standardized site level training at our properties.  The training director will also be responsible for 100% of district manager training by coordinating efforts with our three regional managers.  This role will require a high percentage of travel, around 50-60%.


Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs all district trainers
  • Designs courses and training modules for property sites and district managers
  • Creates, documents, and edits all property site and district manager training materials, reviewing for accuracy
  • Composes quizzes, tests, and guides to build and validate understanding of material covered in each training module/course
  • Measures and evaluates the impact of various learning programs by conducting follow-up studies of all completed training to ensure appropriate learning outcomes
  • Assesses opportunities for continued improvement, and sets goals and metrics to measure success
  • Defines and implements design improvements, tools, and technologies to enhance processes for learning execution
  • Continues to research new tools and technologies to keep learners engaged
  • Presents training and development programs and objectives to management
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications such as newsletters, to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources
  • Up to 60% travel required for “Train the Trainer” meetings and district manager level training
  • Exemplifies the culture and philosophies of the organization at all times

 Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of prior experience at a director level in a training role
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with lecture-style training for both small and large groups
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to easily communicate with all levels of leadership
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills
