3 Tips To Help You Move Into Your New Home Quickly

Summer is the busiest time of year for moving and we want to help you move as quickly and easily as possible. The trick is to plan ahead and stay organized throughout the entire process. If you can stay on schedule, prepare your belongings correctly and figure out any extra services you might need, moving in to your new place should be a piece of cake. Here are some organizational and self storage tips to get you settled in your new location in no time:

Prepare A Schedule

Before you start packing away your TV sets and kitchen appliances, you should create a moving schedule. To make your transition as painless as possible, begin two or three months in advance. You can use a weekly checklist to keep track of your progress. Some items will need certain sized boxes or equipment to be moved properly so you will want to make sure you have everything you need. If you give yourself enough time, a lot of the tasks you have ahead of you will seem easier to accomplish.

Hire A Moving Company

If it's within your budget, consider using a moving service. Beware of high prices during summer months when they are in high demand. Many moving companies require a few weeks notice so do not try to book at the last minute. Do your research and talk to friends and family who have used movers. A personal recommendation will go a long way in finding a reputable moving company. Make sure to take a look at what is included. You may find someone who has a cheaper price but will charge you for every box or piece of bubble wrap they use sending the costs higher than you initially thought. Read reviews online and make an informed decision. These are your personal belongings and you wouldn’t want just anyone handling them.

Limit What You Bring

First-time movers think they need to bring everything to their new home. Don't make this mistake. Look at your possessions and figure out if they enhance your life or just create clutter. Try not to bring anything that you won't immediately have use for, like unfinished projects and unread books. Consider holding a garage sale or just giving away unwanted items to your friends or people in need. If you don’t have time for all of that before you move you can put items you don’t immediately need in storage and go through it when you have more time. Self storage units are the perfect place to weed through things without cluttering your new home.
